Beauty Ring (China) (Shaped Green Tea) |
||
Country of Origin: China Region: Sichuan Province - Mount Meng Grade: Green tea rings Altitude: 4000' ft. above sea level Manuf. Type: Streamed green tea and handmade tea ringlets Infusion: Tending yellow pale fullness Ingredients: Luxury green tea Character: Hint of toastiness and jammy-like Contains ultra high antioxidant level of 13.85% vs 5-6% for mass-market teas. Only 2 villages in the Mount Meng region make these teas. They hold the 'beauty sticks' that the favorite consort of a 13th century Emperor blessed with her beauty. New leaves are hand are slightly steamed, and then hand rolled (lengthwise, where a few leaf cells are broken, allowing the green tea flavor to develop). After rolling, the best leaves are selected and curled around a 'beauty stick', pressed flat and then dried in an oven to lock-in flavor and preserve the unique shape. Hot Tea: This tea is best enjoyed by pouring 180F/90C water over the leaves (1 teaspoon per cup) for 3 minutes (longer=stronger). Don't remove the leaves. Can be infused repeatedly 2-3 times using higher temperatures & shorter infusions until flavor is exhausted. Iced Tea: Pour 1 1/4 cups of hot water over 6 teaspoons of tea and steep for 5 minutes. Pour into pitcher while straining leaves, add ice and top up with cold water to make a quart of iced tea. Garnish and sweeten to taste. |
