Premium White Tea:
White teas, rare and not often found outside China are made from buds and young leaves. They are steamed or fired and then dried. White tea retains the high concentrations of |
catechins in fresh tea leaves. Green tea is made from more mature leaves than white tea, and may be withered prior to steaming or firing.
IMPORTANT: Some of our premium teas are now sold in quantities of 2 oz. to make them more affordable. 2 oz. (60g) of loose tea makes approximately 15 cups; 3.5 oz. (100g) makes 25 cups. However, premium tea can be infused 2-3 times, so each 2 oz. (60g) portion actually makes 30-45 cups and each 3.5 oz. (100g) portion actually makes 50-75 cups. Our producer is active in ensuring safe agricultural practices are maintained on all tea estates. Current standards of loose tea food safety and husbandry, especially with regard to agricultural input residue are regularly reviewed. Food safety standards pertaining to the US, Canada and Europe are followed.

Visually not a typical white tea since it is sundried after special hand rolling. It's pleasant toasty character is full-flavored with a body reminiscent of Oolongs. Sowmee is a lower grade of white tea but is nevertheless preferred by white tea drinkers who prefer a full bodied to a delicate taste. Brewed white tea has much less caffeine per cup than brewed green, partly because the leaves are larger, partly because they underwent less mechanical processing, and partly because the water for brewing is cooler.

the finest gardens in the region. The damp large leaves are steamed and hand-stitched
